2nd Straight Championship for U12 Squalls

Coming off the Smith College indoor tournament, the U12 Squalls won their second straight championship – this time on the outdoor pitch at the Northeast Jamboree on April 27th in Tinton Falls, NJ.   The girls played 4 great games against strong opponents compiling a +6 goal differential.
In the first two matches defense prevailed.   The Squalls won their first match 1- nil against Omega FHC.  In the second match Team Cosmic Storm scored the equalizer with less than 1 minute left in match play, Squalls 1 – Cosmic Storm 1.    Lilly Viscusi in the goal shut down both teams making saves on point-blank shots.
The girls didn’t let the tied game get them down, instead they came back even stronger for the rematch against Omega. The Squalls got their offensive going scoring 6 goals while the Squalls defense, led by GK Lilly Viscusi, shut down the Omega offense again.  Scoring for the Squalls were Olivia Eusanio, Katie Kim, Isabella Bica and Emily Maloney.
The championship game was a rematch with Cosmic Storm.  Again the Squalls came out on top posting a 2 – nil win with goals from Katie Kim and Olivia Eusanio.  Squalls defense was led by Avery Bielawski and Rachel Louie.
Squalls intensity and hustle is becoming the trademark of this young team setting them apart from their opponents.
Next up – Limelight Tournament at Trinity College, June 22-23.
