U16 “Storm” qualify for National Club Championships for 3rd time in a row

May 15, 2017 : A long wet weekend in New Hampshire saw Lasting Legacy U16’s earn their place at Spooky Nook this July in the National Club Championships. Entering their regional qualifier as the top seeded team, Storm made short work of their pool game opponents on day one, winning their group and advancing to the quarter final knock out stages where the two finalists would both earn a ticket to the Nationals.

Despite the Nor’easter, the team brushed aside Team AGH in the quarter finals and then overcame some stout goalkeeping resistance from an exceptional Cape Ann keeper to register a well deserved 2-0 victory in the semi finals.

All that was left, to put icing on the cake was to beat North East Elite in the final and win the trophy. Alas sport is a fickle beast, and not playing their best, our girls fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat to a well organized opponent.

A disappointing end without doubt, but the main goal was achieved over the weekend where the goal tally was 22 to 2, and our Long Island troopers will now compete for a third time in a row at the National Level.

Well done girls.
