U16 “Storm” to their first National Hockey Festival win!

Nov 2016, West Palm Beach, Florida : Third time is a charm for the intrepid Storm team but finally, after two previous second place finishes, they delivered with a table topping performance in the U16 bracket at the 2016 Festival Tournament.

Three days of competitive play under the Floridian sun netted five wins and one tie with 24 goals scored and just the 3 conceded. Indeed from the get-go where a real statement of intent was made with an 11-0 opening victory the team was focused on its ultimate goal. A new recruits since last years’ Festival, Alexis, strengthened an already robust panel and the entire team played better than they had at NCC’s last summer. Notable among the improved performances were Kate Trizzino, Taylor, Brenna and Devon while Michaela rocked with her aerials !

Being the Storm, nothing is ever done quite as easily as it might be, such that the coaches had to sweat through a final game against PA Elite that was waaay harder than it needed to be and was fittingly finished off, albeit only near the end, by a Sίofra to Emily B passing combination for a final 3-1 score line and a podium presentation of the Festival purple medals.

Congrats to John, every family that travelled to support and indeed those who could not on this occasion make it, what a wonderful performance for our Long Island club in what will be no doubt the first of many Festival wins.
